Hi, and welcome to VideoGameLizard (VGL)!
VGL was born from two closely connected passions: discovering curious, exciting, and unforgettable video games – and the pursuit of 100% completion through trophy and achievement hunting. If you’re a player who loves digging deep into games and seeing everything they have to offer, you’re in the right place!
For us, gaming is about more than just playing. It’s about sharing experiences, overcoming challenges, and engaging with a community that understands the thrill of that final trophy pop. VGL exists to document our journeys through games, share our thoughts through written reviews, and help others reach their own gaming goals through clear, practical trophy guides.
As you explore the site, you’ll notice a recurring theme: many of the games we cover come from independent or lesser-known studios. This focus is intentional. With countless games releasing every year – and VGL having started as a one-man project – we chose to narrow our scope and shine a light on indie and niche titles that might otherwise be overlooked.
We strongly believe in supporting the creative visions of small studios and development teams. These games are often labors of love, driven by passion rather than trends, and they frequently deliver some of the most unique and memorable experiences in gaming. Many of our all-time favorite games come from this vibrant scene.
What started as a solo project has since grown into a collaboration between three like-minded gamers and writers, united by a love for video games and trophy hunting. Today, VGL is a place where we share that passion through honest reviews and carefully crafted trophy guides. Unlike many gaming sites, we don’t chase rumors or news; we focus solely on finished games and the experiences they deliver.
VGL is built on three key pillars:
If this sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to have you join our community.Have a game you’d like us to review? Looking for a specific trophy guide or walkthrough? Drop by the VGL Discord – we’re always happy to hear from fellow completionists.
Happy hunting!
VGL AUTHORS
Arcesius
Founder / Reviews / GuidesHello there!
I’m Arcesius, or Arc for short, the creator of VideoGameLizard.
I am truly passionate about discovering amazing games, and even more about overcoming video game-related challenges. And while these things can be enjoyed alone, they become much better when those experiences are shared. That’s what I believe, and that’s why VGL exists.
You’ll often see me play (precision) platformers, metroidvanias, rhythm games and action RPGs.

ReviewsHello everyone! I am your average East European software developer by day and game enthusiast by night, or whenever I have free time really.
Started gaming since the late 90s-early 2000s with bootleg consoles and PC, and it’s a passion that hasn’t left me since. This also lead to an unexpected side-hobby of writing about video games; it just feels fulfilling to praise or rant about a game I have finished.
My areas of expertise (if you can call it that) are action games, RPGs of the European kind, fighting games and strategy games occasionally.

ReviewsGreetings!
I’m a writing and gaming hobbyist based in the US! When I’m not busy writing pretentiously long statements I’m certainly unqualified to make, you can find me entrenched in a games’ equivalent of dumpster diving, experiencing obscure titles in a vain attempt to pick the diamonds from the rough. In other words, I am a chronic obscure indies addict, and writing about them is my only means of coping.
